Black Left Arrow

Overcoming Odds and Flourishing in the Workplace:

Despite being born with a severe heart condition and experiencing emotional anxiety, Talia has persevered through many challenges in her life. Her social delay and lack of self-esteem have often left her feeling isolated. However, Talia has achieved remarkable accomplishments, including receiving a bachelor's degree in theater.

Now at 26 years old, Talia needed to find employment to support herself and continue living with her mother in Chicago. We were thrilled to offer her a job as a Customer Intake Strategist for a Financial Services Firm, with a starting hourly wage of $16/hr. Talia benefits from a hybrid work model, spending two days working from home and three days in the office. As part of our commitment to raising the standard of a sheltered workplace, we are helping Talia become a certified bookkeeper and licensed to write life, property, and casualty insurance policies in the coming year. Talia's resilience and determination make her an inspiration to us all.

talia's Needed Modifications

Improving Safety and Accessibility in the Office with a Mechanical Door

Talia's office is situated in a high-traffic area of the building, with the reception desk located in the center of the 771 sqft workspace. This causes overstimulation, which can be addressed by installing a mechanical door costing over $10,000. The door will enhance security and privacy, as well as improve accessibility for individuals with disabilities entering and exiting the office.

Designing a Home Office for Remote Work

A spare bedroom at Talia's home will be transformed into a fully-functional office, complete with a desk, printer, laptop with camera, specialized lighting, and a work cell phone.

Secure Transportation for a Safe Commute

Talia is apprehensive about public transportation and requires a safe and reliable way to commute to and from work. A transportation app that provides drivers who are trained to understand and accommodate Talia's special needs will ensure a safe and stress-free journey.
